NEET Cut Off 2024 Tie-breaking Process

The National Testing Agency (NTA) uses a revised tie-breaking process for NEET 2024 to determine rank in case two or more candidates score the same marks. Here's the breakdown:

  1. Priority is given to the candidate with higher marks in Biology (combined score of Botany and Zoology).

  2. If a tie persists after Biology, marks in Chemistry are compared.

  3. Physics Marks (New for 2024): This year, NEET 2024 tie-breaking considers Physics marks next. Previously, it wasn't included in the initial steps.

  4. Less Incorrect Answers (If the tie remains): If the tie persists after comparing scores in all three subjects, the candidate with fewer incorrect answers in the entire NEET exam is ranked higher.

  5. Less Incorrect Answers in Biology (If the tie remains): If the tie continues, the candidate with fewer incorrect answers, specifically in Biology, is ranked higher.

  6. Less Incorrect Answers in Chemistry (If the tie remains): If the tie persists after Biology and overall incorrect answers, the candidate with fewer incorrect answers in Chemistry is ranked higher.

  7. Random Selection (If the tie persists): If none of the above criteria break the tie, a computer-generated random selection process is used for final ranking. This ensures complete fairness with no human intervention.

NEET 2024 Counseling

In July 2024, the NEET Counselling for both 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats and 85% State Quota seats is expected to kick off. Once the NEET 2024 Result, All India Rank (AIR), and qualifying NEET UG cut-off 2024 are declared, the counselling process will begin.

MCC (Medical Counseling Committee) will announce the number of available seats before each round of counseling. To streamline the process, a national NEET merit list will be created based on candidates' AIR, which will then be forwarded to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for the 15% AIQ counseling. This centralized counseling for the 15% All India Quota will unfold in four rounds.

Now, for the 85% state quota seats, authorities in each state will release a state-specific NEET merit list for 2024, considering NEET 2024 marks and rank. After each round of NEET Counselling, the results will be presented as the NEET Seat Allotment list. Following this, candidates will need to report to their respective institutes and complete the admission formalities.
