Know the Complete JEE Main 2025 Syllabus and Course Exam Pattern

The JEE Main examination, conducted by National Testing Agency, comprises two papers i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is conducted to get admission to the undergraduate program (B.E./B.Tech) at NITs, IITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. On the other hand, Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B.Arch and B.Planning courses in the Country.

  • JEE Main B.Arch paper will be of 3 hours and it comprises 3 sections namely Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test.

  • The syllabus for Mathematics is the same for B.E/ B. Tech, B.Arch, and B. Planning papers. 

The syllabus for JEE Main drawing and aptitude test is as follows:


JEE Main B.Arch Drawing Syllabus

Here is the prescribed syllabus for JEE Main B.Arch Drawing:

  • Drawing and Designing of geometrical or abstract shapes & patterns 

  • Transformation of forms in both 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional  union 

  • Elevation and 3-Dimensional views of objects rotation

  • Development of Surfaces and Volumes

  • Plan Generation

  • Creating 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms

  • Sketching of activities from memory of urban scenes 


JEE Main Aptitude Section Syllabus for Both B.Arch and B.Planning

JEE Main Aptitude section will hold the maximum marks i.e 200 marks in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. The syllabus for the Aptitude section for B.Arch and B. Planning is given below in the tabular format:


Unit I: 

  • Awareness of persons, places, Buildings, and Materials. 

  • Objects, Texture related to Architecture and build—environment. 

  • Visualizing three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawings. 

  • Visualizing. different sides of three-dimensional objects. 

  • Analytical Reasoning Mental Ability (Visual, Numerical, and Verbal). 


Unit II:

  • Three-dimensional - Perception: Understanding and appreciation of scale and proportion of objects, building forms, and elements, colour texture, harmony, and contrast.

  • Design and drawing of geometrical or abstract shapes and patterns. 

  • Transformation forms both 2 D and 3 D union, 

  • Subtraction, Rotation, Development of Surfaces and Volumes, 

  • Generation of Plan, 

  • Elevations and 3D views of objects.

  • Creating two-dimensional and three-dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms. 

  • Sketching of scenes and activities from memory of urbanscape (public space, market, festivals, street scenes, monuments, recreational spaces, etc.


JEE Main Syllabus For B.Planning

JEE Main B.Planning paper comprises three sections namely Mathematics, Aptitude section, and Planning Based MCQs. 

  • The syllabus for JEE Main Mathematics in the B. Planning section is the same as B.E/B. Tech Maths syllabus. 

  • Aptitude section syllabus is also the same for both B. Arch and B. Planning papers. 

The syllabus for B. Planning-Based section is as follows: 

General Awareness: General knowledge questions and knowledge about prominent cities, development issues, government programs etc. 


Social Sciences: 

  • The idea of nationalism, nationalism in India, pre-modern world.

1. Will there be any negative markings in JEE Main 2025?

Yes, one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer attempted by the candidates in both sections.

2. Whether JEE Mains 2025 exam will be online or offline?

JEE Main 2025 exams will be conducted in “Computer Based Test”, except for the drawing test for B.Arch. It will be held in “Pen & Paper” (offline) mode only. 

3. If any candidate did not apply for JEE Mains Session 1, can he/she apply for JEE Mains session 2?

Yes, if a candidate could not able to fill up the Application Form for JEE Mains Session 1, he/she can fill up the Application Form for Session 2 when the portal for that session gets open.

4. Is it mandatory to attempt all the questions from each section (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) in the JEE Main?

No, it is not mandatory for candidates to attempt all the questions in each section. However, it is always better to attempt more and more questions if you are 100% sure about the answer as you will be able to score higher marks which will ultimately ace your rank.

5. Is it possible to change the answers while attempting the JEE Main exam?

Yes, candidates can easily change their answers at any point while attempting the exam.
